Cooling Assistance, Fan Care

The purpose of the Cooling Assistance Program is to assist low-income households with cooling equipment.



Fan Care is a public-private partnership administered by the Virginia Division for the Aging, Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), that helps low-income older citizens in Virginia keep cool during summer months. The program provides one free fan to elderly Virginians who live within Dominion's service area and who meet eligibility requirements.



Callers will be referred to their Local Area Agency on Aging.  Local Area Agencies on Aging administer Fan care by screening applicants and distributing fans. Fan Care provides free fans; some air conditioners may be available. The program runs June through September.
