Who We Are
A Warm Line is a peer-run support line for individuals residing in Virginia who need someone to listen with non-judgmental compassion or to receive referrals for behavioral health services in Virginia when requested. Peer operators can provide local, state, and national resources to assist callers in their recovery. The message of hope is emphasized because operators themselves offer living examples of personal accomplishment and achievement of wellness. The peers at Mental Health America of Virginia (MHAV) are not licensed professionals, medical providers, or legal advisors. Additionally, the staff and volunteers at MHAV maintain strict confidentiality and do not divulge personally identifying information regarding a caller.
A Warm Line is not a Hotline, which is for individuals in need of emergency services.
If you are in crisis call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. 988 is a national network of local crisis centers that can provide free and confidential emotional support to those in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. 9-8-8 is available 24 hours a day, Lifeline Chat is a service of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
