DBHDS established the Individual and Family Support Program State Council to serve as the agency's advisory partner to increase supports for individuals with developmental disabilities who are on Virginia’s DD Waiver Waiting List.
Together, DBHDS and the IFSP State Council established Virginia’s Individual and Family Support State Plan and set local goals and objectives to support its implementation.
The goals set by the IFSP State Council address the following:
- enhancements to the IFSP-Funding Program,
- creating a robust family support program that increases the number of resources for families and individuals,
- prioritizing those most at-risk of institutionalization, and
- outreach to families and individuals currently on the waitlist
