Understood For All, Inc.
Who We Are
Accommodations are changes that remove barriers to learning for children. They change how kids learn, not what they learn. You can get accommodations for your child through the teacher, in an IEP, or even a 504 plan.
There are four categories of accommodations for different needs:
- presentation (example: audiobooks versus reading printed text)
- response (example: providing a keyboard versus handwriting an essay)
- setting (example: testing in a separate room to avoid distractions)
- timing and scheduling (example: extra time on homework)
Check with your child's teacher to see if they agree on an evaluation.
