Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance (SAARA) of Virginia is a grassroots recovery community organization. Members include individuals in recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction, their families, friends, and dedicated community supporters. SAARA promotes social, educational, legal, research, and healthcare resources and services that support accessible, effective and accountable addiction prevention, intervention, treatment, and Recovery.
SAARA has evolved from a grassroots addictions advocacy comprised of concerned individuals and businesses, into a state-wide organization linking both advocacy and action in the area of substance use disorder, minimization of the impact, and support of the recovery; SAARA of Virginia partnered with many individuals and organizations to mobilize the recovery movement in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
SAARA affiliates are located in Arlington, Bay Counties, Central Virginia (Lynchburg), Central Virginia (Richmond), Colonial, Fairfax/Falls Church, Hampton/Newport News, Loudoun, New River Valley, Northwest, Prince William, Roanoke, Tidewater, and Western Tidewater.
