Who We Are

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) provides health information relating to allergies and infectious diseases (influenza, malaria, Sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis).  The Institute also conducts and supports research to better understand, treat and prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.  Key research areas include newly emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and influenza, HIV/AIDS, biodefense, and immune-mediated diseases including asthma and allergy.
