The Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging (V4A) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of the 25 Area Agencies on Aging covering the entire State, each serving a designated planning service area.
V4A serves as an advocate for older Virginians and their families, taking positions on relevant state and federal initiatives and educating policy makers and the general public on issues affecting older Virginians. V4A also facilitates communication acting as a liaison between national and state organizations and the Area Agencies on Aging, serving as a link with the Department for the Aging and other public and private organizations promoting aging issues, as well as providing a network of information exchange among the Area Agencies on Aging.
V4A also promotes training & education activities and provides opportunities for the development of creative ideas, resources and discussion of potential solutions to problems faced by older Virginians. Additionally, V4A utilizes state, federal, local and private resources to operate the statewide programs of the Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman program and Senior Medicare Patrol through the Area Agencies on Aging network.
