Administrative Office

The mission of the Virginia Department of Health Professions is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public. 

• Investigating and adjudicating reports and complaints against health care providers.
• Reviewing, developing, and proposing regulations and legislation promoting the safe delivery of health care.
• Approving educational programs that satisfy requirements for initial and ongoing licensure, certification or registration.
• Funding student financial assistance and physician incentives. Providing consumer information about health care.
• Providing administrative services in support of the agency's mission and programs.
