Who We Are
DentaQuest provides dental coverage to members of Smiles For Children. As Virginia’s dental program for Medicaid, FAMIS and FAMIS Plus, Smiles for Children is offered by Virginia’s Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and offers comprehensive dental benefits to members.
Visit the DentaQuest website to search for a Smiles For Children dentist in your area or call (888) 912-3456. The website also offers the Virginia Smiles for Children Handbook and the Virginia Smiles for Children Handbook in Spanish.
Transportation to dental care is provided under with DentaQuest benefits. Pregnant members who are 21 years old and older in Medicaid or FAMIS can get dental benefits. These dental benefits will be available through the Smiles For Children program.
For members younger than age 21, services include:
- Regular dental checkups (every six months),
- X-rays (when necessary),
- Cleaning and fluoride (every six months),
- Sealants,
- Information and education about oral care,
- Space maintainers,
- Braces (if approved),
- Anesthesia,
- Extractions,
- Root canal treatment,
- Crowns.
Dental coverage for adults enrolled in Medicaid focuses on overall oral health, prevention, and restoration. Adult services may include the following:
- X-rays and examinations,
- Cleanings,
- Fillings,
- Root canals,
- Gum related treatment,
- Dentures.
